LOS ANGELES (Top40 Charts/ PresPak PR) - What happens in a port town like Long Beach doesn't always stay in Long Beach. A band like rock/metal/experimental quartet All Else Fails follows in the footsteps of local heroes
Sublime by blending the influences that come through the docks, down the freeways and out of the airwaves into something that is both familiar and fresh. Now, they are bringing their music and upcoming video to the world. Just back from Las Vegas, where they shot their first music video, All Else Fails comes to
Orange County for a shot at the Blue Café on Thursday, August 6 (17208 Pacific Coast Highway, Huntington Beach, 562-592-1302.)
While waiting for a record label to appreciate a band that during their three years together has hit the stage more nights than they've been home and boasts shows for as many as 200 appreciative merch-buying fans, All Else Fails isn't taking time to rest. They are finishing up their debut independent CD, a collection bristling with a hard edge backbone and melodic riffs.
The members of All Else Fails (Victor Garcia, singer; Richard Nuno, drums; Tony Williams, bass; Ramon (Cabbage) Chavarria, guitar) are all self-taught musicians who have been friends for more than a decade. They first decided to form a band in 2006, playing their first show only three months later. Since then, All Else Fails has played the legendary Hollywood hotspot Whiskey A-Go-Go, earning repeated callbacks. Stages welcoming them include The Gig, The Joint and Social Rock Revolution. One battle of the bands showcase was notable in two regards; not only did All Else Fails sail into the semi-finals, but they bested Kid n' Play to get there. In their short but meteoric career, they have opened for acts including Micky Avalon and Droid.
Their sound is heavily influenced by bands of the Nineties rock era, a time that saw the expansion of alternative rock, both artistically and commercially, embodied in the music of bands such as Ministry, Tool and System of a Down. All Else Fails adds their own take, mixing in bits of balladry, Screamo and the influences that have filtered down to them through the ports and through their shared Latin heritage.
