Part of Mumiy Troll's success can be attributed to their multi-genre sound, a hybrid of rock and pop which songwriter Lagutenko calls "rockapops". This flurry of activity comes on the heels of Comrade Ambassador, Mumiy Troll's first commercially available release in North America in early 2009. Reviews of Comrade Ambassador were overwhelmingly positive, with coverage in Entertainment Weekly, Toronto Star, and San Francisco Examiner. New City Chicago music critic Tom Lynch said, 'Comrade Ambassador is Mumiy Troll's North American debut, and its devilish slickness impresses throughout all proper thirteen tracks. It feels delightfully fresh.'

Mumiy Troll began as 'one of the most socially dangerous bands in the world' as noted by a local Communist party chief in the former Soviet Union; yet, was hailed as 'Best Band of the Millennium' by leading Russian music critics after the fall of communism. Mumiy Troll began playing club dates in Siberia in their hometown of Vladivostock and steadily built a large fan base that now packs arenas in Moscow and St. Petersburg as well as the Baltic States. Having played over 1,000 gigs since the turn of the century, and boasting a back catalogue of eight full-length CDs, Mumiy Troll are the most influential and successful independent artists in Russia today.

ABOUT MUMIY TROLL

Mumiy Troll is: Ilya Lagutenko - vocals, guitars, songwriting, Yuri Tsaler - guitar, keyboards and saxophone, Eugene "Sdwig" Zvidionny - bass, Oleg Pungin - drums.
