New York (Top40 Charts/ Atlantic Records) - Atlantic recording group NEEDTOBREATHE recently released their eagerly anticipated new album on August 25th. "THE OUTSIDERS" - which includes the hit single, "
Something Beautiful" - is currently in stores and available at all online retailers.
"Something Beautiful" recently impacted at Triple A radio outlets nationwide, and made its debut this week at No 27 on the national airplay chart. The track was recently included in USA Today's weekly "Playlist," with critic Brian Mansfield declaring that the "South Carolina band looks for a transcendent moment and comes close, with folky verses and choruses that soar."
Without question one of the hardest working live bands in America today, NEEDTOBREATHE have just begun an intensive US headlining tour to celebrate the release of "THE OUTSIDERS." The dates, which run through early November, see the band joined on the endless highway by a range of like-minded support acts, including Griffin House, Green River Ordinance, The Alternate Routes, Matthew Mayfield, and fellow Atlantic recording artist Serena Ryder (see below itinerary).
With "THE OUTSIDERS," NEEDTOBREATHE has truly come into their own, seamlessly blending ambient, arena-ready soundscapes with a decidedly Southern sensibility. The band co-produced the album with a trio of respected producers - Jim Scott (Wilco), Rick Beato (Jump Little Children), and John Alagia (Dave Matthews Band, John Mayer). From the poignant ballad "These Hard Times" (which can currently be heard in NBC's promotional campaign for the upcoming new drama series, "Mercy") to the achingly beautiful "Stones Under Rushing Water" (featuring Sara Watkins of Nickel Creek) - a track that the Washington Post Express calls "... stunning" - "THE OUTSIDERS" is stirring, emotive, and unceasingly powerful, the finest work to date by a genuinely gifted rock 'n' roll band.
Formed in 1999, NEEDTOBREATHE - fronted by brothers Bear and Bo Rinehart - made a name for themselves with constant touring throughout their native Southeast. Upon signing to Atlantic, the band crossed the Atlantic to record its debut album, "DAYLIGHT," with British producer Andy Green (Keane, KT Tunstall, Scouting For Girls). NEEDTOBREATHE toured harder than ever following the album's 2006 release, criss-crossing America as headliners as well as supporting such artists as Train, Jars of Clay, Edwin McCain, and Collective Soul. An ardent fan following - known as "the Breathers" - soon rose up around the band in ever-increasing numbers.
NEEDTOBREATHE returned the following year with "THE HEAT," which reached No 2 on Billboard's "Top Heatseekers" chart thanks to the top 10 Triple A hit single, "More Time." The song was also featured on the soundtrack to the motion picture "P.S. I Love You," where it was the most downloaded track on the collection.
