NEW YORK (Sex Pistols Fans Website) - The
Sex Pistols have confirmed long-rumored plans to embark on a tour of North America, unveiling two weeks of late-summer appearances. The tour will visit a mix of amphitheaters, clubs and concert halls, and will conclude with a Sept. 7 set at the San
Diego Street Scene festival.
John Lydon (a.k.a. Johnny Rotten), Steve Jones, Paul Cook and Glen Matlock--the legendary British punk group's original lineup - haven't toured together in seven years, but they did play scattered Sex Pistols shows last year.
In 2002, the group headlined Los Angeles-area radio station KROQ's Inland Invasion concert, and also performed a show during Queen Elizabeth II's Golden Jubilee - though it wasn't a royally sanctioned event.
The Sex Pistols broke up in 1978, flaming out after just two years. The group's best-known bassist, Sid Vicious, died in 1979, and original bassist Matlock has returned for the group's subsequent reunion shows, the first of which took place in 1996.
