LOS ANGELES (Snoop Dogg Fans Website) - Los Angeles police detained six members of Snoop Dogg's entourage on suspicion of weapon violations near the site of the 3rd Annual Black Entertainment Television Awards on Tuesday (June 24). Officers stopped three vehicles, including an armored van with gun ports, outside the Renaissance Hotel in Los Angeles. After finding seven handguns in the vehicles, authorities took six men into custody for violation of weapon statutes. The men, who identified themselves as a security detail, were released and will await possible charges presented to federal prosecutors. Snoop Dogg, whose real name is Cordozar "Calvin" Broadus, was dropped off by one of the vehicles outside the Kodak Theatre moments before the arrest. He was not detained, but he did talk to a lawyer outside the theatre. The rap star was convicted of cocaine possession in 1990, and it is illegal for a felon to carry weapons or hire armed security guards. In April, an L.A. gunman fired at six vehicles, and injured one of Snoop Dogg's bodyguards. Snoop Dogg took home the best collaboration award for the hit song "Beautiful" featuring Pharrell Williams at the 3rd Annual BET Awards on Tuesday night.
