New York, NY (Top40 Charts/ Blue Bird) -
Annie Dinerman, a Songwriters Hall of Fame award-winning songwriter, announces the release of her second independent CD, BROKEN COOKIES, at performances in and near New York City. Release Date is
September 1, 2009.
Annie Dinerman's new Contemporary Folk singer-songwriter CD features her song, 'One Planet At A Time,' a witty look at the cost to our environment when our tax dollars are spent in space. Dinerman challenged percussionist Rex Benincasa to 'play garbage in the recording studio.' And he did: plastic bags, a pill bottle filled with pistachio shells, a pizza box, a Snapple cap, tin can conga drums, pizza sauce can timbales, and glass and plastic bottles combined to make a fun and chunky World
Music groove.
Annie Dinerman's new BROKEN COOKIES CD was produced by Steve Addabbo (Suzanne Vega, Shawn Colvin). Photography is by Robert Corwin. Studio musicians include George Wurzbach (Modern Man) on piano.
Dinerman has another innovative and eco-friendly idea: the lyrics to all 12 songs are on the CD itself in a pdf file, instead of a paper booklet. The pdf lyrics file can be viewed on a computer, attached to an email or printed, and are also available as a free download at anniedinerman.com and other sites.
Annie Dinerman's music is funny, frank and definitely female. Her newest songs capture what Americans are living through right now: Love and frugality during the Recession, Loss, Recovery, and saving our Environment. Dinerman's 12 original songs on BROKEN COOKIES include the title track which was co-written with producer Steve Addabbo. Annie Dinerman is based in New York City. She holds the Abe Olman Award for Excellence in Songwriting from Songwriters Hall of Fame.
'One Planet At A Time' made audiences laugh during Dinerman's recent shows, including the Queens International Film Festival (November 2008), Dance Flurry Festival (Saratoga, NY February 2009) and The Coffeehouse concert series (New Fairfield, CT April 2009). A video of 'One Planet At A Time' is being planned by filmmaker Don Cato (Silver Medal for Best Short, Cannes Film Festival, 1974). Upcoming performances include 09/05/09 at Bread and Jam, Cohoes, NY (opening for Roots Rock Band, the Tern Rounders), and 09/11/09 at Empire Fulton Ferry State Park in Brooklyn, NY at The September 11th Memorial Sing sponsored by the Brooklyn Arts Council.
