New York (Top40 Charts/ Mighty Like A Rosebud Records) - Mighty Like a Rosebud Records has announced a Heather Waters fall tour beginning
September 22nd in Raleigh, North Carolina and concluding in Curtis, Michigan on October 10th.
The concerts mark Waters' return to the stage following the death of her long-time musical partner, Duane Jarvis, who passed away on April 1st following a 16-month bout with colon cancer. Jarvis was a stalwart of the Nashville and Los Angeles roots music scenes whose lead guitar work landed him stints playing with Dwight Yoakam, Lucinda Williams, John Prine, and Michelle Shocked. A well-respected singer/songwriter in his own right, he was probably best known for co-writing William's "Still I Long for Your Kiss," off her Grammy-winning album, Car Wheels on a Gravel Road.
Waters, who has recorded and performed with Delbert McClinton, Kelly Willis, and Gillian Welch, will be supported on the upcoming tour by guitarst/bassist, Chuck Lee Bramlet, formerly of The Violets and Gingersol. The duo will be performing a collection of songs from Waters' last two records, shadow of you and propeller. Both discs garnered reams of praise from media outlets nationwide, but following the release of propeller in the spring of 2008, Waters was diagnosed with vocal nodes and forced to take the remainder of the year off. With help of prominent Beverly Hills otorhinolaryngologist, Dr. Shawn Nasseri, and world-renown vocal coach, David Stroud, Waters is well and eager to be back on the road.
Venues on this tour include listening rooms, small theaters, and a bevy of house concerts, as well as Indiana State Prison, a level 4/5 maximum-security facility for male inmates. ISP is widely considered to be one of the most dangerous prisons in the United States, where three out of every four offenders is incarcerated for murder. This show marks a return performance for Waters; in 2008 she played a two-hour set for the general inmate population at ISP and a short acoustic set for death row inmates, a first in the 200+ year history of the facility.
Currently, Waters is showcasing for several labels in Los Angeles and has started writing her next record. She hopes to have a studio release and a live cd ready for the fall of 2010.
