New York (Top40 Charts/ MTV Latin America) - MTV Latin America announced today that Cobra Starship, Fall Out Boy, Paulina Rubio, Wisin & Yandel and co-host Nelly Furtado will perform at this year's edition of Los Premios MTV from the Gibson Amphitheatre in Los Angeles, while Alejandro Sanz will rock Bogota, Colombia with the debut of his new single for the first time ever on television during this year's multi-city version of the show. In addition, the network also announced performances by Argentine pop group, Miranda! set to perform from Buenos Aires. The eighth annual event will air on MTV Latin America at 9:00 p.m. Mexico, 10:00 p.m. Colombia, 11:00pm Argentina and on MTV Tr3s in the U.S. at 10:00 p.m. EDT. The show will also air on MTVs around the world and on select broadcast stations throughout Latin America, details to be announced.

"The talent line up for this year's Los Premios MTV promises to once again deliver a great level of excitement," commented Jesus Lara, Senior Vice President of Music Programming and Artist Relations for MTV Networks Latin America. "Alejandro Sanz's worldwide debut of his latest single 'Looking for Paradise', along with some of the musical moments that we are working on and the multi-city format are a few of the key ingredients that will make for a thrilling show."

Alejandro Sanz is an award-winning, Spanish pop/ballad musician and singer-songwriter. Sanz is the recipient of 15 Latin Grammy Awards and two American Grammy's for a total of 17 Grammy's, which no other Spanish artist in history has surpassed. In addition, Sanz has also won two "Los Premios MTV" awards for "Best Pop Artist" in 2004 and "Video of the Year" in 2005 for his collaboration with Shakira in "La Tortura" as well as holding the record for the top selling Spanish music CD in history (21 million copies). Sanz latest work, Paraiso Express, produced by Tommy Torres will be released on Nov. 10th of this year and features a collaboration with internationally renowned singer Alicia Keyes. Sanz will be making his worldwide debut performance of this new single from Bogota, Colombia during Los Premios MTV.

Cobra Starship is an electro-pop band originally created in 2005 by lead vocalist Gabe Saporta. Their first taste of success came when their song "Bring It (Snakes on a Plane)," was included on the soundtrack of the action film Snakes on a Plane in 2006. Since then they have released 3 albums including their newest, Hot Mess. This includes their smash hit single "Good Girls Go Bad" which features Gossip Girl star Leighton Meester. The current members of Cobra Starship, along with vocalist Saporta, include Victoria Asher (nicknamed 'Vicky-T') (keytar), Ryland Blackinton (guitar), Alex Suarez (bass) and Nate Novarro (drums). The band has performed on MTV's New Years Eve and Spring Break specials and also headlined the famed Warped Tour.

Formed in 2001, rock heartthrobs Fall Out Boy hail from Chicago, Illinois. The band consists of Patrick Stump (vocals and guitar), Joe Trohman (guitar and vocals), Pete Wentz (bass guitar and vocals), and Andy Hurley (drums and percussion). With Pete Wentz as the band's primary lyricist, and Patrick Stump as the primary composer, Fall Out Boy reached mainstream success with their major label debut, From Under the Cork Tree. Released in 2005, the album won several awards and has achieved double platinum status after selling more than 2.5 million albums in the United States alone. Hits such as "Sugar, We're Going Down", "Dance, Dance" and "I Don't Care" have earned them numerous MTV awards and nominations throughout the world.

Argentine electro pop band Miranda! was formed in 2001 by Alejandro Sergi (vocals) Juliana Gattas (vocals) Lolo Fuentes (guitar), Bruno de Vincenti (programming) and Nicloas Grimaldi (bass). Their popularity grew around the Buenos Aires underground music circuit, and in 2002 the group released their first album, Es Mentira, spawning the singles: "Bailarina", "Iman, Tu Juego", "Agua and Romix". In 2004, Miranda! released their second album, Sin Restricciones, which brought the band mainstream success with hits like "Yo Te Dire" and "Don". The band's 2007 album El Disco de tu Corazon, became a No 1 hit in their native Argentina. The album's second single, "Perfecta", a collaboration with Mexican singer-songwriter Julieta Venegas, became a world-wide sensation topping charts in many Spanish-speaking countries. In 2008, Miranda! released a greatest hits album titled El Templo Del Pop. Throughout their career, the group has been nominated for more than 20 international music awards, including numerous Los Premios MTV "tongues". Their latest effort, Es Imposible, was released earlier this year.

Nelly Furtado, who joins the stage with Calle 13's Residente as co-host of this year's show, has had a multifaceted career as a singer-songwriter, record producer and actress. Most recently, she recorded her first full Spanish-language album, Mi Plan, to be released September 15. The album's first single, "Manos al Aire", has already earned the No 1 spot on the Latin radio charts in the U.S. and Puerto Rico, as well as grabbing the No 2 spot on Billboard's "Hot Latin Songs" chart. The single is also a huge hit across Latin America earning the No 1 spot in Chile, Colombia and all of Central America, as well as positioning itself on the top ten in Argentina and Mexico. Furtado is known for experimenting with different instruments, sounds, genres, vocal styles and languages. This diversity has been influenced by her wide-ranging musical taste and her interest in different cultures. Furtado has collaborated with a number or internationally known artists including: Juanes, Timbaland, Justin Timberlake, James Morrison and Tiesto, amongst others.

Paulina Rubio has been nominated for various international music awards and is winner of many Billboard Latin Music Awards. The Mexican singer, known as "The Golden Girl" and "Queen of Latin Pop", achieved international stardom with her 2000 release, Paulina. To date, she has sold over 20 million albums worldwide. Her albums have garnered gold, multi platinum and diamond status in the U.S., Spain, Mexico and all of South and Central America. Her style and music have seduced and connected with all types of people throughout the world. Her songs of peace, love, liberty and passion speak to men and women of all ages. She is vibrant and unpredictable, a hurricane of energy and sensuality, an icon of her generation. English-speakers recognize her from her 2002 single "Don't Say Goodbye" (Si Tu Te Vas). "Causa y Efecto", the first single from her most recent album Gran City Pop, reached the No 1 spot on radio in many Latin American countries and Spain and it reached No 1 on U.S. Billboard's "Hot Latin Tracks."

Top-selling Latin artists and Los Premios MTV 2009 leading nominees, Wisin & Yandel are a Puerto Rican multi-award-winning urban recording duo consisting of Llandel Veguilla (Yandel) and Juan Luis Morera (Wisin). They started their career together more than 10 years ago in Puerto Rico and have since garnered multi-platinum and gold albums as well as dozens of awards for hits such as "Rakata," "Llame Pa' Verte", "Pam Pam," "Sexy Movimiento," "Siguelo," "Me Estas Tentando," "Mujeres in the Club," and "Abusadora". They have collaborated with world-renowned artists - both Latin and International acts - such as R. Kelly, Enrique Iglesias, Lenny Kravitz, RBD, 50 Cent, Akon, Eve, Fat Joe, Nelly Furtado, David Bisbal, Luis Fonsi, and many more. Their crossover appeal has made them one of the best selling acts throughout the US and Latin America, including Palacio de los Deportes and Auditorio Nacional in Mexico City, Luna Park in Buenos Aires, The Staples Center in Los Angeles and Madison Square Garden in New York. This year they had the honor of being the only Latin artists nominated to an MTV VMA.

Wisin y Yandel top list of nominees for this year's show with six nominations, followed by Paulina Rubio with five nominations while newcomer Lady Gaga and Mexico's rock darlings Zoe nab four nominations each.

Jose Tillan will serve as Executive Producer for the "Los Premios MTV Latin America 2009" and Audrey Morrissey (a veteran of many MTV productions and award shows, and producer of "Alejandro Sanz MTV Unplugged," "La Ley MTV Unplugged" and six previous Los Premios MTV), will produce the show.

MTV has a long history of hosting large, exciting musical events, with 19 awards shows produced locally all over the world in countries such as Russia, India, Austria, Japan, and Germany among others.
