SANTA MONICA, Calif. (Top40 Charts/ VSA Arts) - The VSA arts International Young Soloists Program is currently seeking talented musicians with a disability. Since 1984, VSA arts has presented the International Young Soloists Award annually to four outstanding musicians, two from the U.S. and two from the international arena. The award provides an opportunity for each of these emerging musicians to earn a $5,000 award and to perform at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington, D.C.

The annual VSA arts International Young Soloists Award recognizes outstanding young musicians with disabilities, and it supports and encourages them in their pursuit of a career. All genres of music are accepted, including country, classical, jazz, rap, rock, bluegrass, and world, among others. Each entry will be reviewed by a committee of distinguished music professionals who will select the four award recipients.

Any individual musician (instrumental or vocal) from the U.S. who has a disability and is 25 years old or younger is eligible to apply. Any individual musician (instrumental or vocal) from outside the U.S. who has a disability and is 30 years old or younger is eligible to apply.

Musical ensembles (two to eight members) are also eligible for the award. A wide variety of ensembles are accepted, including rock bands, chamber ensembles, drum corps, and more. In order to be eligible, at least one member of the ensemble must have a disability. All members of the ensemble must fulfill the age requirements as stated above.
Visit www.vsarts.org for additional information and entry instructions or call VSA arts at (202) 628-2800. Applications in English, Spanish, French, and Arabic are available online. Alternative formats of this call for entries are available upon request.
