NEW YORK (Top40 Charts/ Shore Fire Media) - UK art-rockers
Porcupine Tree scored their highest-ever chart debut on the Billboard 200 this week, entering at No 25 with 'The Incident' (Roadrunner)- 29 places higher, and with over 50% more first-week sales, than their Grammy-nominated 2007 opus 'Fear of a Blank Planet.' Their first-week sales for 'The Incident' were higher than for 'Blank Planet in every overseas territory as well.
Furthermore, they've now sold out their entire U.S. fall tour, including dates at LA's Club Nokia, San Francisco's Warfield Theater, The Electric Factory in Philadelphia, and New York's Terminal 5 - bigger venues than they've played on any previous U .S. visit.
Also sold out is the initial 1500-copy U.S. run of $100 special editions of 'The Incident' that come bound with two books of artwork and photography based on the lyrical themes of the 55-minute, 14-track suite of music.
Reviewers have been unanimous in their praise of Porcupine Tree's 'The Incident':
Revolver: Four Stars. The Incident is their strongest record yet. Beautifully played and sung.... As dazzling as it is accessible, a must-hear album.
SPIN: UK virtuosos stretch out on a 57-minute suite that flows like one continuous symphonic composition... Stupendously arranged and performed.
Filter: Wilson's wistful voice wanders through soundscapes of bucolic pop and industrial electronica... a remarkable achievement.
Mojo: A compelling album that's diverse and full of drama.
Yahoo! Music: Yet another triumph for band founder Steven Wilson.
Buffalo News: Atmospheric, far-reaching, often complex rock music that goes for the widescreen, Technicolor image every time. The finest music Porcupine Tree has yet offered.
