LOS ANGELES (Top40 Charts/ Tangent Records) - Bill Ortiz, Santana's longtime
Supernatural Trumpeter, who has been receiving nothing but accolades since the July release of his debut CD, From Where I Stand, announces new shows in the San Francisco Bay Area and Las Vegas, a new Single, and international radio airplay successes.
The most authoritative national music industry magazine, Music Connection, states, 'Contemporary jazz trumpet greats have a run for their money now that longtime Santana sideman Ortiz enters the urban jazz scene with this chillin', artsy yet infectious, easy grooving debut.' Keith Hannaleck of MuzikReviews.com gives Four Stars and states, 'It comes as no surprise that his solo effort From Where I Stand turns out to be first rate material.' Veteran music critic, Ed Jennings of Connecticut's New Haven Advocate and The Entertainer, writes on MusicForOurHeart.com, 'You are swept away on a magic carpet ride of orchestrated funk,' and Carlos Santana states, 'Bill articulates the beautiful language of jazz without losing the purity and innocence of a child. It's a wonderful experience to share music every night with him.'
After his rousing headline performance at Yoshi's Oakland in September, that Examiner.com called, 'fresh, entertaining, and a true testament to his talent and experiences as musician,' Bill Ortiz returns to the East Bay for an intimate show at the Jazz School (www.jazzschool.com), in Berkeley, on Sunday, October 25, at 4:30 p.m. This is a rare opportunity to see and hear one of the Bay Area's favorite musical sons at one of the nation's most celebrated jazz education and performance venues. Additionally, Bill returns with Carlos Santana (www.santana.com), to The Joint at the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino, Las Vegas, November 11-22, 2009.
From Where I Stand tracks AyeJaye, and Ease My Mind/Slip Into This remain in frequent rotation on over 100 US radio stations. Additionally, Ease My Mind/Slip Into This entered Britain's legendary Rhythm, Blues and Soul Starpoint Radio Chart, at an impressive No 18 in August and peaked at No 14 in ten days. The track remains on the Starpoint Radio Chart, now going into its ninth week in the Top 30. Quite high honors right on the cusp of Bill readying the Radio Remix of his track Full Circle, which will go out to radio in late October 2009.
