LOS ANGELES (Shortlist Music Prizes) - Dave Matthews, Tori Amos, Perry Farrell, and Chris Martin are just a few of the big names in music who have agreed to be judges for the 2003 Shortlist Music Prize. The honor spotlights lesser-known acts for their artistic merit. Only those albums which have sold less than 500,000 copies are eligible for the award. Additional panelists--which Shortlist refers to as "listmakers"--include the Neptunes, Flea, Musiq, Pete Yorn, Erykah Badu, and film directors Spike Jonze and Cameron Crowe. During the course of the summer and fall, the listmakers will each submit lists of five noteworthy albums for a "long list" and then vote on 10, for a list of 12 finalists. The winner will be named at the Shortlist Awards Concert in the fall. This is the third year that the Shortlist Music Prize will be awarded. The two past recipients were Sigur Ros and N.E.R.D.
