New York, NY (Top40 Charts/ UMPG) - Universal Music Publishing Group (UMPG) today announced the signing of an exclusive world-wide publishing agreement with No. 1 songwriter/artist Adam Young of Owl City. The publishing deal encompasses all of the Owl City catalogue, including Adam's major label debut Ocean Eyes. "We couldn't be happier to be working with David Renzer, Tom Sturges, Evan Lamberg and the entire UMPG team," said Steve Bursky, management of Owl City. "Their creativity and forward thinking ideas will make them great partners for Adam and Owl City."

"I am so honored to be a part of the Universal Music Publishing Group family," added Adam Young.

Owl City's hit song "Fireflies" is currently the best selling track in U.S. and Canada, reaching No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100. The song was also No. 1 on the iTunes Singles Chart. The single has sold over 1.3 million to date.

Owl City's first official CD - Ocean Eyes (Universal Republic) - was released in July of this year and is Top 10 on the Billboard Top 200; No. 2 on the Top Dance/Electronica Albums chart; and Top 20 on the Billboard Top Digital. Ocean Eyes has sold nearly over 180,000 copies since its release. Owl City is currently featured on the 90210 soundtrack with the song "Sunburn."

Adam Young released his first, self released digital release Of June on MySpace in June 2007. Recorded in his parent's basement, word of mouth began to spread for Adam's music. Maybe I'm Dreaming, released digitally in March of 2008, was Owl City's full-length debut. Adam became a phenomenon on MySpace and currently has more than 11 million profile views and 52 million plays - outstanding for such a short span of time.

The publishing deal encompasses all of the Owl City catalogue, including the four singles off of Ocean Eyes, "Fireflies," "Hello Seattle," "Strawberry Avalanche," and "Hot Air Balloon."

Managed by Steve Bursky and Brian Winton of Foundations Artist Management, Owl City will continue Adam's sold out tour of North America this Fall before heading to China and Japan.
