New York, NY (Top40 Charts/ Shore Fire Media) - Brian Williams, the anchor of NBC's Nightly News, is a major music fan. And he's very impressed with 15-year-old singer Nikki Yanofsky, whose U.S. debut on Decca will be released this May. "It's hard to believe such a big voice could come from such a tiny young person," Williams marveled. In a 21-minute interview posted on NBC's website, he told Nikki she has "a golden road ahead" and is "going to be a major star." The pretty, poised 10th-grader from Montreal is being hailed as a "young Ella Fitzgerald" (Seattle Post-Intelligencer) and praised for her "huge, polished voice" (Seventeen). In a recent cover story, Women's Wear Daily noted Nikki's distinctive fashion sense while calling her sound "a refreshing alternative to mainstream music." The Decca release, produced by the legendary Phil Ramone and by Jesse Harris (Grammy-winner for his work with Norah Jones), showcases Yanofsky's "purity across her multi-octave range" (NY Post) with music that includes standards by the Gershwins and Ellington, an original song by Feist, and Nikki's writing collaborations with Harris, Ron Sexsmith and others.
