New York, NY (Top40 Charts/ Universal Music) - Universal
Music Publishing Group Signs Publishing Agreement with Albert Music, Home of
AC/DC and many others International, UK (January 25, 2010) - Andrew Jenkins, Executive Vice President, Universal
Music Publishing International today announced the signing of a sub-publishing deal to represent Albert
Music in Asia, Latin America, Africa, the
Middle East and Eastern Europe. The deal encompasses the entire Albert
Music catalogue.
Albert Music is one of Australia's oldest independent publishers and is synonymous with many of Australia's most celebrated songwriters and musicians. Alberts represents the entire AC/DC and Vanda and Young catalogues as well as exciting new talent like Megan Washington, Old Man River and Shelley Harland, and writer/producers Stuart Crichton, and Michael Szumowski.
Andrew Jenkins said: "Universal Music Publishing Group is honoured to be representing this extraordinary catalogue of some of the very best of Australian talent. This is an exciting time for Alberts and we are thrilled to be part of their extended publishing family around the world. The management team at Alberts is one of the strongest in the business, highly motivated and very experienced. Working together with Tim Prescott, Phillip Mortlock and David Albert I am sure we can look forward to many more international successes."
Tim Prescott, CEO of Albert Music, said: "We are very excited to be entering into this new relationship with Universal Music Publishing Group as our sub publisher in many important territories around the world."
We have a fantastic catalogue of Australian copyrights with worldwide appeal, including the songs of AC/DC, Vanda & Young (e.g "Love is in the Air", " Walking in the Rain", "Down Among the Dead Men"); also songs from Rose Tattoo, The Angels, and many more. We also represent music from some of Australia's foremost composers (Cezary Skubiszewski and Frank Strangio), and world renown jazz writers like Paul Grabowsky. The song catalogue is as diverse as it is exciting - from rock to pop and jazz to country. Our writers are world class and we are very proud of them.
Apart from the terrific administration resources at UMPG, an extremely important part of this relationship is the emphasis on working closely to develop new markets for our songwriters, new licensing opportunities for our songs and the creative exploitation of our copyrights. Most important is our joint commitment to new and developing songwriters like Megan Washington, Old Man River and Shelley Harland. All are songwriters who we hope to develop further with our new Universal Music Publishing Group connections.
My thanks to Andrew Jenkins on introducing us to the company, and we are looking forward to working with everyone at Universal Music Publishing Group."
