NEW YORK (Top40 Charts/ Columbia Records) - Columbia Records congratulates its artists Beyonce, Maxwell, AC/DC, Bruce Springsteen,
Israel Houghton and Mary Mary, as well as producer Brendan O'Brien, for their 2010 Grammy Award wins, announced on January 31 from Los Angeles, CA.
2010 saw Beyonce take home six Grammy Awards, including "Song of the Year" (for "Single Ladies"), breaking the Grammy record for most awards won by a female artist in a single year while bringing her career Grammy total up to 16 (13 as a solo artist and 3 with Destiny's Child).
Contemporary soul artist Maxwell took home his first two Grammy Awards on Sunday night including Best R&B Album for platinum selling BLACKsummers'night and Best Male R&B Vocal Performance (for "Pretty Wings").
Rock & Roll Hall of Famers AC/DC took home the band's first (!) Grammy this year in the Best Hard Rock Performance category for "War Machine," a track from Black Ice, the group's best-selling Columbia Records debut album.
Previous Columbia Records Grammy winner Bruce Springsteen and contemporary gospel artists Israel Houghton and Mary Mary added new Grammy Awards to their respective career totals.
With 19 previous Grammy Awards to his credit, music legend Bruce Springsteen brought his career total up to 20 with this year's Best Solo Rock Vocal Performance for "Working On A Dream."
Sisters Erica Campbell and Tina Campbell, a.k.a. the groundbreaking contemporary gospel duo Mary Mary, added a third Grammy Award to the group's collection with 2010's Best Gospel Song honor for "God In Me," one of the key tracks from group's No 1 gospel album, The Sound.
Gospel performer Israel Houghton scored his third career Grammy when The Power of One took home the Best Pop/Contemporary Gospel Album trophy.
Brendan O'Brien won the Producer of the Year, Non-Classical Grammy Award for his work on the Columbia albums Black Ice by AC/DC and Working On A Dream by Bruce Springsteen as well as on non-Columbia releases.
