 New York, NY (Top40 Charts/ Universal Music Publishing Group) - Universal Music Publishing Group (UMPG) today announced the signing of a world-wide (excluding the United States and Canada) publishing agreement with singer/songwriter Kenny Loggins. "Kenny Loggins' body of work represents some of the most well-known and best loved songs of recent time," said David Renzer, Chairman & CEO, Universal Music Publishing Group. "We're tremendously honored and excited that Kenny has chosen UMPG to now handle his music publishing rights and we look forward to promoting not only his catalogue, but also the new songs that he continues to write." Loggins' catalogue of hit songs includes such gems as "Celebrate Me Home," "Whenever I Call You Friend" (a duet with Stevie Nicks), "This Is It," and "Don't Fight It." Loggins' hit single "Footloose" spent three weeks at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 in 1984 receiving high popularity from Footloose the motion picture and was recognized in the American Film Institute's 100 Years...100 Songs list. "Footloose" was also nominated for an Academy Award in 1984 for Best Original Song. Another single by Loggins, "I'm Free (Heaven Helps the Man)" was also featured in Footloose. A musical remake of the film is scheduled to begin production in March. Loggins' catalogue also includes other hit songs for movie soundtracks such as "I'm Alright" from Caddyshack and "Playing With the Boys" from Top Gun. Loggins has received two Grammy awards - one in 1979 for Best Male Pop Vocal with "This Is It" and another in 1980 for Song of the Year with "What a Fool Believes" (recorded by The Doobie Brothers).
