NEW YORK (MTV Awards) - Justin Timberlake, Beyonce, and Coldplay each received three Video Music Awards honors, making a three way tie for the night's big winner slot. The 2003 MTV Video Music Awards was held Thurday (August 28) at New York's Radio City Music Hall. The show opened with Christina Aguilera and Britney Spears performing Madonna's "Like A Virgin."

Madonna has stunned the audience at the 20th MTV Video Music Awards by giving open-mouthed kisses on stage to Britney Spears and Christina Aguilera. Britney Spears and Christina Aguilera gave a gyrating tribute of Madonna's Like a Virgin to open the show, dressed in the same kind of white bustier wedding dress Madonna wore while performing the song during MTV's inaugural awards broadcast in 1984.
Madonna also sang her new "Hollywood" in a masculine all-black outfit.

Other performances included 50 Cent's pimp-a-licous performance of P.I.M.P. during which he was joined on stage by Snoop Dogg, the ubiquitous former pimp Bishop Don Magic Juan, members of his G-Unit posse - and a bevy of half-naked women.

Timberlake's "Rock Your Body" earned the best dance video award, while his clip, "Cry Me A River," a play on his relationship with ex-girlfriend Britney Spears, won the best male video and best pop video honors.

Destiny's Child frontwoman Beyonce Knowles received the best choreography in a video, best female video, and best R&B video awards, all for her "Crazy In Love" video featuring Jay-Z. Coldplay's "The Scientist" earned the British band the best group video, best breakthrough video, and best direction in a video awards.

Missy Elliott, who was nominated for eight awards, didn't go home empty handed. Her video "Work It" received two honors, best hip-hop video, and the evening's most acclaimed title, video of the year. Hardcore rapper 50 Cent, also took on two awards, best new artist in a video, and best rap video.
