LONDON, UK (Top40 Charts/
Gary Numan Official Website) - Pioneering electronic artist
Gary Numan is set to play at the Scala in London on the 13th April 2010 as a warm-up show before his forthcoming appearance at the Coachella Festival in California, along with West Coast dates in LA and San Francisco. Currently recording his new album Splinter, Numan recently broke all records at the BBC when 1.3 million viewers watched his collaboration with
Little Boots for BBC 6Music via the interactive ''red button''.
In addition to selling over 10 million albums, Numan is one of the most covered and remixed artists of the last three decades. A roll call of the musicians who have performed or sampled his songs is virtually a who's-who of British and American music from the last 20 years. They include Damon Albarn (Blur), Jack White (Dead Weather), Afrika Bambaataa, Jarvis Cocker (Pulp), The Foo Fighters, Nine Inch Nails, Marilyn Manson, Sugababes, Basement Jaxx, Smashing Pumpkins, St Etienne, GZA (Wu-Tang Clan), Armand Van Helden and DJ Hell.
The likes of Kurt Cobain, Devo, Goldfrapp, The Killers and Tricky have also namechecked him as an influence in the past which is a trend that is continuing with a new generation of artists such as La Roux, Late Of The Pier and Santagold.
As the NME now declares: 'Numan's influence on electronic music is unparalleled.'
So it is with great pleasure The Playground hosts this special intimate evening with Gary Numan performing out live for the public in London for the first time in 5 years. Tickets are on sale now via www.ticketground.co.uk.
