New York, NY (Top40 Charts/ Shore Fire Media) - Last night, Eden Brent won a Blues Music Award for Pinetop Perkins Piano Player of the Year. One of her heroes, Perkins presented the award to her personally. In her acceptance speech she thanked Abie " Boogaloo" Ames, her mentor of sixteen years, saying, "If Boogaloo were still here, this would be his award. Since he's not, I'll take it home in his memory." Earlier that day, Brent performed with Colin Linden (Mavis Staples, Cassandra Wilson) to a packed lunchtime crowd at the Center for Southern Folklore in Memphis, TN. Linden produced Brent's eclectic upcoming album 'Ain't Got No Troubles' (September 7 / Yellow Dog Records) and played guitar throughout; together they previewed many of the album's tracks. The Blues Music Awards, recognized as the highest honor given to Blues artists, are presented by the Blues Foundation to artists selected by its members. The event brings together Blues performers, industry representatives, and fans from all over the world to celebrate the best in Blues recordings and performances from the previous year.
