BURBANK, CA (Top40 Charts/ Warner Bros. Records) - DEFTONES have just released their long-awaited 6th studio album, "DIAMOND EYES" which has entered the Billboard Top 200 Album Charts at an impressive No 6 upon release selling over 62,000 albums during its first week.
"DIAMOND EYES" was produced by Nick Raskulinecz (Alice in Chains, Coheed & Cambria, Foo Fighters) and recorded in Los Angeles, CA. The band recorded the album after their best friend and bassist Chi Cheng sustained a debilitating brain injury from a car accident in November of 2008. "After Chi's accident, it would have been easy for us to make a sad record," says singer and guitarist Chino Moreno. "But really, this is an optimistic record." MySpace.com recently premiered a brand-new video for lead single "Diamond Eyes," which was shot in Los Angeles and directed by Roboshobo (Metallica, Mastodon, B-52's). Prior to hitting the road on BlackDiamondSkye with Alice in Chains and Mastodon, Deftones will play a string of U.S. shows, followed by dates overseas. The first single "Diamond Eyes," is presently commanding serious airplay around the world while the album is quickly garnering formidable headlines:

Also just announced, DEFTONES have been added to the line-up of the annual KROQ Weenie Roast at the Verizon Wireless Amphitheater in Irvine, CA on the following day, Saturday June 5.
