About The Shrine

A fusion of a sensuous nightclub, state-of-the-art live performance space, and high-end lounge, The Shrine is a next generation nightclub in the emerging South Loop district of Chicago. Named after the renowned music venue founded by the late Fela Kuti, the legendary Nigerian musician/human rights activist who created the Afrobeat music movement, in under a year The Shrine has quickly established itself as Chicago's new home for soulful music across an eclectic cross-section of genres. The Shrine brings together the city's music, fashion, art, and dance communities to form a truly diverse, trendsetting clientele. With an 'Africa meets James Bond' design aesthetic, The Shrine looks and feels at once both raw and refined, classic and modern, underground and chic.

The Shrine has showcased live concert performances by mainstream acts as Common, The Roots, Lupe Fiasco, Sean Paul, Ludacris, Raheem DeVaughn, Trey Songs, Brian McKnight, to name but a few. The Shrine has also showcased underground and classic artists such as Raekwon, Fertile Ground, JC Brooks & The Uptown Sound, Platinum Pied Pipers, Pac Div, Julie Dexter, Roy Ayers, Grand Puba, Rakim, Slick Rick, and many more. Leading up to The Shrine's one year anniversary, the parade of live talent continues, with upcoming shows by underground soul heroes Georgia Anne Muldrow, EPMD, and Camp Lo.

The Shrine has welcomed stellar DJs including Pete Rock, Bobbito, Mick Boogie, Steph Floss, Crazy Legs (Rock Steady Crew), Danny Krivit, Greyboy, Rich Medina, JROCC, Dam Funk and Prince's personal DJ, Rashida. Additionally, hometown favorites such as Timbuck2, Ron Trent, Million Dollar Mano, AM/PM, Dee Money, Bonsu, and 33 1/3 are a fixture on the Shrine's schedule.

The venue has become one of the see and be seen nightclubs in Chicago, with celebrities across the sports and entertainment spectrum making appearances. Lebron James, Jay-Z, Ne-Yo, and The Black Eyed Peas are just a few of the celebrities that have dropped in to hang out and enjoy the warm, inviting, and sexy atmosphere of The Shrine.
