New York, NY (Top40 Charts/ Blue Note Records) - Hank Jones, a true gentleman of jazz, and one of the music's great treasures passed away yesterday at the age of 91. During his unparalleled career Hank enlightened numerous Blue Note sessions, including Cannonball Adderley's classic 'Somethin' Else' (check out his crystalline solo, cadenza and outro on 'Autumn Leaves'), and more recently a series of brilliant recordings with saxophonist Joe Lovano: the quartet sessions 'I'm All For You' (2004),'and 'Joyous Encounter' (2005), and duo recording 'Kids' (2007). 'Playing with Hank has been so important to me', said Lovano. 'Traveling with him, talking about his life-that has truly been the most joyous experience. Working with someone like Hank, who is so enthusiastic and on such a high level of creating in the moment, has given me the true sense of what jazz is all about.'
