JMusiz began writing songs for local artists in Richmond, Virginia, in 1991 and began to Dee-jay at parties and mix tapes in 1994. In 1995, he partnered with a local artist producer named Lil Walter and put out a single called "She Told She Love Me" in local record shops. In 2000, he started producing music for local artists.
