New York, NY (Top40 Charts/
Black Seeds Official Website) - New Zealand reggae-soul heavyweights The
Black Seeds return to North
America in July to support their North American debut album "Solid Ground". Described by
Clash Magazine as "one of the best live reggae acts on the planet," The
Black Seeds will perform 19 shows across North America, including two performances at the High
Sierra Music Festival, as well as appearances at Camp Bisco, Grassroots, and the
Victoria Ska Festival.
Leading up to the group's arrival on U.S. soil, NPR's World Caf will feature a show devoted to the band on Thursday, June 10th. Host David Dye will share interviews and play tracks that were recorded live at WXPN studios in Philadelphia last October.
The Black Seeds were chosen to have a song featured in URB Magazine's Camp Bisco Remix Competition. Alongside Bassnectar, King Britt, and festival hosts The Disco Biscuits, The Black Seeds are giving fans an opportunity to remix one of their songs and win a coveted DJ set at Camp Bisco 9 in front of thousands of people.
The band's tour continues to support the North American release of their album "Solid Ground" which was released by celebrated indie label Easy Star Records in September 2009. The release was named Best Soul Album of 2009 by Dennis Cook at JamBase and coincided with a highly successful 12-show tour alongside label mates John Brown's Body. "Solid Ground" received widespread acclaim: niceup.com called it "as marvelous a work of modern reggae as you're likely to find in any corner of the world today." PopMatters described it as "...a sonic tour de force of heavy dub vibes and feel-good roots-rock melodies... a record that harbors some of the most crucial dirt-floor riddims you will hear on any coast."
The Black Seeds' following continues to grow quickly around the globe on the back of numerous successful European and Australasian festival tours. The band has two double platinum selling albums to its name in New Zealand. They return to North America with their 8-piece band ready to deliver their boundary-crossing fusion of big-beat funk, dub, soul, afro-beat, and vintage roots-reggae.
Do not miss these South Pacific soul heavyweights live in concert this July!
