Las Vegas, NV (Top40 Charts/ Rock 'n' Roll Marathon) - Rock musician and reality TV star
Bret Michaels has embarked on a comeback, and he'll do it Rock 'n' Roll style when he performs for the more than 30,000 runners at the Zappos.com Rock 'n' Roll Las
Vegas Marathon & 1/2 Marathon to benefit the Crohn's & Colitis Foundation of
America on Sunday, December 5th.
The free concert will cap an electrifying weekend of rocking and running as race participants span across all 8 lanes of Las Vegas Boulevard, shutting down the Las Vegas Strip in extraordinary fashion. Michaels will take the stage at the finish line festival immediately following the race where runners will celebrate to the sounds of party anthems and power ballads after running along a high energy, action packed course down "The Strip."
"Vegas, Rock 'n' Roll and Bret Michaels are the perfect combination - a triple threat sure to wow runners and spectators alike," said Peter Englehart, CEO of the Competitor Group. "We're offering participants an unparalleled Rock 'n' Roll experience on multiple levels, where else can you run down the most exhilarating street in America, get up close and personal with a Rock 'n' Roll legend, and stay to play in the ultimate adult playground?"
With his upcoming new studio album Custom Built scheduled to be released on July 6, Michaels is rocking his way across the country for the "Custom Built" 2010 tour. He sees the Zappos.com Rock 'n' Roll Las Vegas Marathon as a way to not only help others though its charity partnership, but to make it clear how important it is to live life to the fullest and to never give up on your goals and dreams.
"He has made it clear he is sick and tired of being in the hospital and is ready to rock again," said his representative, Janna Elias.
As the event's official charity, the Crohn's & Colitis Foundation of America (CCFA) will return with the Team Challenge half marathon training program. Last year, Team Challenge runners raised more than $3.9 million at the race, the largest single day fundraiser in the 46-year history of the foundation.
"We are thrilled that Bret Michaels was named the headliner of the Zappos.com Rock 'n' Roll Las Vegas post-race concert," said Staci Brown, National Director of Team Challenge. "After raising critical research dollars for digestive diseases and training over 16-weeks, our participants will truly get to celebrate their accomplishment with an extraordinary Rock 'n' Roll concert at the finish line."
Las Vegas' signature running event was acquired last year and rebranded for the first time by San Diego-based Competitor Group, drawing over 28,000 entrants from all 50 states and 39 countries. In addition to live bands performing at each mile along the course, Vegas runners were treated to a new layer of event entertainment, including start line extravaganza with iconic white tigers, showgirls, skydivers, Running Elvi and fireworks.
