New York, NY (Top40 Charts/ RIAA) - The Obama Administration released its 2010 Joint Strategic Plan On Intellectual Property Enforcement on Tuesday, a new initiative designed to strengthen the coordination of intellectual property enforcement across federal government departments and curb copyright theft in the United States and abroad.

Vice President Joe Biden joined Intellectual Property Enforcement Coordinator Victoria Espinel and several Cabinet officials, including U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder, Department of Commerce Secretary Gary Locke, Department of Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano, and U.S. Trade Representative Ambassador Ron Kirk, in releasing the plan this morning. Below is a comment from Mitch Bainwol, Chairman & CEO, Recording Industry Association of America:

'The Administration's report is a welcome step toward reversing the dangerous trajectory that has endangered America's creative community. Addressing the problem of intellectual property theft in a meaningful way is essential to enhancing our global competitiveness and protecting American innovation.

'All those whose jobs rely on music - from aspiring musicians to songwriters to retailers and countless others - welcome the commitment of President Obama and Vice President Biden to sustaining music's economic and cultural contributions to America. We look forward to working with the Administration on the effective implementation of the report.'
