Trey Songz was among the big winners at last night's 2010 BET Awards, taking home the prestigious title of "Best Male R&B Artist." In addition, the VA-based superstar stole the show with his tribute to Lifetime Achievement Award winner Prince, melding a portion of the classic "
Purple Rain" to his own hit single, "Yo Side Of The Bed." An encore presentation of the 2010 BET Awards will be broadcast by BET on Tuesday, June 29th at 7pm ET (Check local listings).
That same night will also see the BET premiere of Songz' first-ever docu-series, Trey Songz: My Moment. The 10-part documentary offers an exclusive look into Trey's life and career, chronicling his travels alongside Jay-Z on the sold-out "Blueprint 3 Tour 2010," performances from a variety of parties and industry events, and the making of his hugely anticipated fourth album. Trey Songz: My Moment - which had a special sneak peek airing after last night's BET Awards - premieres tomorrow, Tuesday, June 29th at 10pm ET (check local listings).
In addition to last night's BET Awards victory, Trey was also triumphant at Canada's recent 2010 Much Music Video Awards, where the companion video to the hit single, "Successful (Drake & Trey Songz)," received the ""MuchVIBE Hip Hop Video of the Year" award. The clip was also honored with the award for "Cinematography of the Year." "PASSION, PAIN & PLEASURE" is currently slated for release on September 14th. In the meantime, Trey will introduce fans to his latest jams on the upcoming "Passion, Pain & Pleasure Tour." The coast-to-coast trek - starring J Records recording artist, Monica - kicks off August 6th at Mobile, Alabama's Civic Center Theatre and then travels through mid-September, culminating in a hugely anticipated September 16th show at New York City's Beacon Theatre (see below itinerary).
In other news, Trey's current single, "Already Taken," is shaping up as yet another Urban radio smash. Featured on Atlantic Records' upcoming "STEP UP 3D - ORIGINAL MOTION PICTURE SOUNDTRACK," the track has scored intense early support from such influential outlets as New York's Power 95, San Francisco's KMEL, and Atlanta's Z-103. What's more, the "Already Taken" companion video is now in rotation at BET's 106 & Park, where it recently stood tall at No 1 on the countdown. "Already Taken" is available now at iTunes, while "STEP UP 3D - ORIGINAL MOTION PICTURE SOUNDTRACK" hits stores and online retailers everywhere on July 27th.
A live performer hailed by the New York Times for "transfix(ing) like no other R&B singer of the day," Songz - who recently toured as special guest on Jay-Z's massive "BP3 Tour 2010" - has been in the spotlight all year long, with an array of activities that includes TV appearances, and star-studded recording sessions like Lionel Richie and Quincy Jones' new version of "We Are The World," benefiting Haitian earthquake relief organizations.
