New York, NY (Top40 Charts/ Quirky Official Website) - The Quirky will be launching their debut album Fresh Lies at the Dublin Castle music venue in Camden, London on Friday 27th August. Also appearing as a special guest is John Otway performing a solo set. The new CD features the, well quirky, music of this innovative new band. With an abundance of 'feel good factor" according to the reviewers at www.ukevents.net, the music has its roots firmly based in the psychedelic 60's. Over the last two years the Quirky have been gigging and developing the music for the Fresh Lies album playing at some of London's top underground music venues. Aiming to break the mold of the modern celebrity based music industry, the band's gritty sound short circuits the last half decade and taps into the karma of the Woodstock generation with all the outrageous creativity that the psychedelic revolution unleashed. A demo of 'Summer Beyond Repair' - the sixth track on the album - has been reviewed by Organ Magazine who described it as 'sunny folky psychedelia laced with spoken word soundbites and delicate instrumentation, lots of bright colour'. The Quirky's album launch is on Friday 27th August at The Dublin Castle, London. Featuring John Otway solo (special guest), Sanjuro, Columbus Giant and The Cold Callers. Background The Quirky were formed in London two years ago and have been gigging and developing the music for the Fresh Lies album since then. The new band have already played downstairs at the famous Roundhouse venue in Camden sharing the bill with Bez from The Happy Mondays and ex-Oasis guitarist Paul 'Bonehead' Arthurs. Since then the band has been promoting its own monthly 'Giggling Gig' at the Cross Kings which mixes off-the-wall music and comedy at this prestigious London music venue. The initial album sessions were at the Caf Music Studio in the heart of East London with the overdubbing sessions taking place at studios owned by band members. The band's line up is Tim Davine (vocals, electric and acoustic guitars), Brian Heywood (fretted and fretless bass guitar) and Mike Vishnick (kit drums and percussion). Guest artists are vocals from Zee Kalnina (vocals) and Cherry Makej (vocals) who both have the soothing voice of angels and the talented Guy Avern from The Rude Mechanicals on keyboards, with the addition of Sarah Denton on violin.
