NEW YORK (White Stripes Fans Website) - White Stripes singer and guitarist Jack White makes his major motion picture debut this winter in the film Cold Mountain. The Civil War drama, based on a best-selling novel, also stars Nicole Kidman and White's current girlfriend, Renee Zellweger.
Jack White is playing a Civil War musician and he is singing a couple of songs in the film. Jack as musician and a couple of other Civil War soldiers have deserted from the war, they are living in a cave, they're all musicians and they all play American sort of folk song sort of things! Jack White told White Stripes Fans website that "so it's gonna be pretty interesting!"

Jack White plays guitar on the debut single from Detroit alt-counry act Blanche, called "Who's To Say." The seven-inch, 45 R.P.M. vinyl disc can be ordered directly from Blanche's label at cassrecords.com.

'Cold Mountain' comes out December 25. It was directed by Anthony Minghella, who also directed the English Patient and the Talented Mr. Ripley. Jude Law from A.I.: Artificial Intelligence and Natalie Portman from the Star Wars prequels also appear in the film.

The White Stripes are touring Australia, New Zealand, and Japan through most of October. They return to the States to play the Voodoo Music Festival in New Orleans on November 1, before launching a full North American tour on November 10 in Milwaukee.
