San Francisco, CA (Top40 Charts/ PR That Rocks) - The New Up, voted a Best Bay Area Breakout Band of 2009 on MTV2/Ourstage, proudly announces five performances in Washington, Oregon and Southern California, beginning July 23. The New Up recently released their new multiple award-winning video single, Bitch, from their CD Better Off, to all video music media outlets nationwide, as they put the finishing touches on their fourth studio effort, Gold, which is scheduled for an August 2010 release.
The New Up, who according to Jennifer Gibson of Flagpole Magazine, 'shatters your placid veneer with some of the most striking, exotic and brashly coherent indie-ish pop that's ever graced your ears,' will embark on their fourth national tour in October 2010. These regional shows will provide rare opportunities to get up-close-and-personal with The New Up in very special, intimate venues as the band introduces new songs in many 'fan stronghold' cities.
The New Up's two studio EPs, Better Off (2009) and Broken Machine (2008), the latter of which debuted and spent several weeks on the CMJ Top 200, and debut full-length studio effort Palace of Industrial Hope (2007) were all mixed and engineered by one of the most in demand "audio alchemists" on the West Coast, Jaimeson Durr, who has worked with The Killers, Cake, Franz Ferdinand, and Handsome Boy Modeling School. In August of 2010, The New Up's entire critically-acclaimed catalogue will be made available through all US music retail locations and worldwide digital music retailers through IRIS Digital Distribution.
The New Up, who Dennis Cook, (Pitchfork, Signal to Noise, and JamBase) deemed "a post-Radiohead group, full of mutated pop hooks, absinthe guitars, smartly wrangled chaos and undisguised beauty and feeling' and Chris Maroulakos of NBCSanDiego.com praised as 'dark, dreamy rock with gorgeous female vocals' consists of ES Pitcher (vocals, guitar), Noah Reid (guitar, vocals), Hawk West (flute and automation), Dain Dizazzo (bass), and Drew Bertrand (drums).
In one of the most detailed feature articles about The New Up, which appears in this month's July 2010 Performer Magazine, Tanya Fuller writes, 'They are a sensory driven band, big on textures and big on noise, yet they balance that bravado with a sensual soulful awareness that comes through in their melodies and lyrics.'
