Legendary Filmmaker Les Blank Directs 2nd-ever Music Video For Los Cenzontles (first One Was Aretha Franklin In 1960s)

New York, NY (TOP40 Charts/ Shore Fire Media) -- Legendary documentary filmmaker Les Blank is directing a new music video for Bay Area-based Mexican folk ensemble Los Cenzontles' new album. Les Blank�s first music video was for Aretha Franklin in the 1960s, but it was never released. He is best known for his portraits of American traditional musicians and two films about German film director Werner Herzog. He directed 'Chulas Fronteras' (1976), a story of the norten~o or conjunto music played on both sides of the Mexico-Texas border, and some of his subjects include Dizzy Gillespie, Ry Cooder and Huey Lewis And The News. Los Cenzontles (pronounced Los Senn-sont-less) originated at the cultural center of the same name in San Pablo, California, a heavily immigrant and Hispanic neighborhood north of Oakland. Founded by director Eugene Rodriguez in 1994, Los Cenzontles Mexican Arts Center is an artist-driven, non-profit organization where Latino youths learn Mexican folk dance, music and arts through a multi-level mentorship program. It promotes Mexican-American culture through an after school academy, performing touring group and media production group.
