NEW YORK (Arista press release) - Arista recording artist Whitney Houston will add another landmark accomplishment to one of the most extraordinary careers in popular music when One Wish - The Holiday Album, her first collection of Christmas tunes arrives in stores on November 18th, it was announced today by Antonio "L.A." Reid, President and CEO, Arista Records. One Wish is comprised of a joyous mix of yuletide favorites from the traditional and contemporary songbooks, along with several new compositions. At the helm with Whitney on the project are producers and arrangers Troy Taylor (who worked on 2002's Just Whitney... and Aretha Franklin's current album, So Damn Happy), Mervyn Warren (whose association with Whitney goes back to 1996's The Preacher's Wife), and the team of Gordon Chambers and Barry J. Eastmond (most recently collaborated on So Damn Happy). Whitney Houston commented, "I've wanted to do an album of holiday songs for some time. I think these are some of the most beautiful songs ever written about such a wonderful time of year and I hope they appeal to everyone." Attention is sure to focus on Bobbi Kristina Brown, who appears on "Little Drummer Boy," one of eight tracks produced and arranged by Warren. The others include "Cantique De Nfel (O Holy Night)," "I'll Be Home For Christmas," a medley of "Deck The Halls/Silent Night," "Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas," "O Come O Come Emanuel," "Who Would Imagine A King" and "Joy To The World," both co-produced by Mervyn Warren and Whitney Houston, with vocal arrangements by Whitney.
One Wish opens with a pair of evergreens produced and arranged by Taylor, the classic "The First Nfel" and Mel Torm's timeless "The Christmas Song (Chestnuts Roasting On An Open Fire)." Chambers and Eastmond contribute the original composition "One Wish (For Christmas)," whose 23-piece string section (recorded in New York City) is one of the highlights of the album.
