LONDON, UK (Bill Wyman Website) - Mark Knopfler is to return to the stage next month for the first time since a motorbike smash, it has been announced. The former Dire Straits front man had to pull the plug on a tour following the accident in March in which he suffered a broken collar bone and six broken ribs. He has now been added to the line-up for a concert by Bill Wyman's Rhythm Kings at the Royal Albert Hall in London on November 12. Within weeks of the accident he was back playing the guitar, but was struggling to get his arms around an acoustic instrument. However Knopfler has recovered sufficiently to perform alongside former Rolling Stones star Wyman and other guest musicians such as Peter Frampton. He was hurt when his Honda motorcycle collided with a car in central London. Knopfler enjoyed a string of hits with Dire Straits including Sultans Of Swing, Romeo And Juliet and Money For Nothing. The band had a global best-selling album with Brothers In Arms. He is also known for his soundtrack work, providing the music for movies such as Local Hero.
