New York, NY (Top40 Charts/ Columbia Records) - The
Avett Brothers won top honors at the 9th annual Americana
Music Awards for Best Duo or Group at a ceremony held in Nashville on
September 9th at the historic Ryman Auditorium. Celebrating music that honors and is derived from traditions of American roots music, it's especially exciting for The
Avett Brothers to be presented with an Americana
Music Award. "It was truly an honor to be there, and winning the award just took the experience over the top for us," exclaimed Seth Avett.
"It was thrilling to be in the same room with so many legends of music," marveled bassist Bob Crawford. This is the second time winning this award for The Avett Brothers, they won in 2007 which was the categories' inaugural year. That year The Avett Brothers also won an Americana Music Award for best New Emerging Artist of the Year.
