NEW YORK, NY (Top40 Charts/ Atlantic Records) - Atlantic recording artist Donnis has announced the release of his new EP, entitled "FASHIONABLY LATE." The five-song collection will go on sale via the iTunes Store on Tuesday,
September 28th.
The Georgia-based rapper is set to celebrate the release of "FASHIONABLY LATE" with a major North American tour alongside acclaimed dance-punk duo Matt & Kim. The dates kick off on Thursday, October 14th at Fort Lauderdale's Culture Room, and head up the East coast including an eagerly anticipated two-night-stand at New York City's famed Webster Hall, slated for Tuesday, October 26th and Wednesday, October 27th.
"FASHIONABLY LATE" offers fans and newcomers an introduction and glimpse into Donnis' diversity as an artist, highlighted by the upcoming single, "Tonight." The track was blasted to DJs across the country last week, while its companion video is set to premiere next week via Donnis' official website, www.donnismusic.com. The "Tonight" clip, directed by BB Gun, was shot in Tokyo earlier this year during the globetrotting MC's successful tour of Japan and features a very personal look at Donnis' unique experience in the East.
In other news, Donnis has been named one of four artists who will be participating in a new campaign to roll out Common and Diesel's new "Only The Brave" fragrance campaign. The rapper will be featured in a series of videos casting light on his personal back-story, followed by an all-star concert in New York City in October. The VIP event - headlined by Common - will be taped for later broadcast on MTV2 (check local listings).
Donnis has quickly broken through as one of the most exciting new stars on the hip-hop scene. Hailed for his lyrical strength and distinctive delivery, the 25-year-old MC first attracted attention last year with 10.Deep's breakout mixtape, "DIARY OF AN ATL BRAVE," and soon scored an underground following of his own with the mid-tempo party anthem, "Gone" (released on revered DJ/producer A-trak's Brooklyn-based Fool's Gold Records).
Shortly after beginning work on his Atlantic Records debut, Donnis was named to XXL's hugely influential "Freshmen 10," alongside such like-minded new artists as Nipsey Hussle, J. Cole, and labelmate Wiz Khalifa. A charismatic live performer, Donnis has shared stages around the world with such luminaries as T.I. and Snoop Dogg.
The "FASHIONABLY LATE" mixtape, presented by Clinton Sparks, followed in June 2010, featuring appearances from such notable artists as John Legend and Donnis' Atlantic labelmate, Estelle. The collection earned him universal praise, as well as a nomination as "Breakthrough MC of the Year" on MTV.com.
