Music Award Winner Atsiaktonkie (ah-jeeak-doon-gee-ay) and his band December Wind will perform at the Dinosaur Bar-B-Que located at 246 West
Willow Street on Saturday, October 9 at 11:30 PM in Syracuse, NY.
December Wind's performance is part of the Music Industry Conference (MIC), a two day industry networking event that is being held at the OnCenter Complex on October 8 and 9 in Syracuse, NY. The event will headline keynote speaker and performer Max Weinberg (drummer for Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band), Bob Lefsetz (music writer), Jeff Tortora (drummer for the Blue Man Group) Eric Alper (Director of Media Relations and Label Acquisitions at E1 Entertainment), and music showcases at several venues in the area including December Wind at the Dinosaur Bar-B-Que.
Hailing from the Akwesasne (Mohawk) Territory nestled between New York and Canada, December Wind is Atsiaktonkie ( lead vocals, guitar), Terry Terrance (bass), Randolph Furnia (lead guitar, vocals), Donnie Sharrow (guitar, vocals), and Billy Lashomb (drums). With three highly acclaimed CD's under their belt; Sacred Voices (Canyon Records, 1999) Second Wind (Strong Wind Records, 2005) and Four Wolves Prophecy (Strong Wind Records, 2008), which won the 2009 Nammy Award for Best Folk Recording/Album, Atsiaktonkie and December Wind will surely entertain industry professionals and fans alike with their live performance.
December Wind will be selling copies of their album Second Wind, as well as the Nammy Award Winning Album Four Wolves Prophecy at the event A portion of the proceeds from album sales will benefit The Akwesasne Freedom School, which helps preserve the Mohawk culture and language that is diminishing rapidly.
