NEW YORK (Stone Temple Pilots Official Website) - Stone Temple Pilots have officially disbanded. Guitarist Dean DeLeo announced yesterday that the band's latest album - a greatest hits package entitled "Thank You" - will be their last.

For several months, STP singer Scott Weiland has been working with former Guns N Roses members as Velvet Revolver but no official split from STP had been announced until now.

Weiland has been entangled in a series of drug-related arrests and is currently in a residential re-hab facility. He also faces DUI charges stemming from a recent car crash.
"To try and go and accomplish something with this band after we've already peaked is a bit cheesy," bassist Robert DeLeo told Guitar One magazine. "There's no way to go but out."
