New York, NY (Top40 Charts/ Underworld Official Website) - Underworld, one of the greatest names in electronic music, who are about to embark on their October North American Tour in support of their just released 6th studio album 'Barking' has announced that they will make their debut U.S. television appearance on NBC's '[\Late Night with Jimmy Fallon' on Tuesday October 26th, scheduled to air at 12:35 a.m./ET.
For the legendary duo, Rick Smith and Karl Hyde, this pending performance on Late Night With Jimmy Fallon is not only a pivotal point in their 30 year career but also a historical landmark for the entire electronic music genre. Underworld will be the first among their alternative, electronic musical peers to perform on US Late Night TV, a list of musical peers that includes luminaries like Daft Punk, The Chemical Brothers, The Prodigy, Crystal Method and even Kraftwerk.

Underworld kick off their first round of selected tour dates on October 25 in Washington DC in support of their new album Barking, which was released on September 14 by Om Records in the US. It debuted at No 1 on both iTunes and Amazon Electronic Charts.

Barking is Underworld's first album in 3 years and an artistic marker for the ten-year anniversary of the release of 'Born Slippy', a song widely celebrated as one of the greatest dance tracks of the decade selling over 1 million copies and being featured in the hit movie, Trainspotting. This album in many ways represents a new chapter for the band as Pitchfork takes note, 'Barking stays the course, with the added prospect of a fitter, happier Underworld on the horizon. It's about time.' Reenergized by recent collaborations with some of today's top talents, Underworld have proven their staying power over the last thirty years, delivering some of this generation's most indelible soundtracks.

Although collaboration is nothing new to them - from their halcyon days with Darren Emerson through their pivotal work for Danny Boyle, to their current album featuring Dubfire, High Contrast and Paul Van Dyk, Underworld have never lost their trademark sound, sense of fun or penchant for wildly entertaining shows. USA Today praises the collaborator's contributions on first single "Always Loved a Film" by saying "Mark Knight and D. Ramirez bring the technoise on this dizzying seven-minute house groove saturated in funk.' Whether they're inflating giant glow sticks on stage, giving die-hards goose-bumps with "Jumbo" encores or shooting video of the audience right back at them on giant screens, Underworld have consistently given music lovers some of the most memorable live experiences in music history.

From their earliest days, Underworld have been multimedia provocateurs, pushing the boundaries of what it means to be post-modern musicians and inspiring acts like Radiohead who invited the band to open for them at 2008's All Points West Festival held in NY where Thom Yorke dedicated 'Everything in its right place' to Underworld. Another fan, and long time collaborator is Brian Eno. Hyde and Eno have recently worked extensively on the collaborative Pure Scenius project, playing largely improvised gigs at Sydney's Opera House and at the Brighton Festival.

Underworld were one of the first acts of their scale to directly sell their own records online in 2005 with the Riverrun Project which saw the band release a series of internet only releases sold direct to the band's fan base. Several of the pieces from Riverrun inspired the bands score in Danny Boyle's 2007 Brit-sci-fi movie Sunshine and the soundtrack of Breaking and Entering, the last film by director Anthony Minghella. In 2005 they beamed a show live from Tokyo free to the world via www.underworldlive.com in what was a world first, and In August 2009 they continued their series of incredible groundbreaking live audio-visual broadcasts becoming the first artists to broadcast live to iPhone users globally, from The Fox Oakland Theater.

The cover artwork of Barking continues on the tradition of collaboration that has occurred between the design troupe Tomato and Underworld (in the early 90s Smith and Hyde helped co-found Tomato with John Warwicker). It's truly exciting to see a band and design studio continue to push their already considerably expanded creative boundaries.
For Underworld, the past few months have been some of the most successful and invigorating in their career. This past August Karl Hyde had his first solo art exhibit in Tokyo where the album debuted at No 1 on the charts. Titled 'What's Going on in your head while you're dancing,' the exhibit showcased over 90 pieces of Hyde's visual art. In addition, The Edinburgh Festival staged a Frantic Assembly and National Theatre of Scotland production titled 'Beautiful Burnout'. The hugely acclaimed piece of physical theatre is sound-tracked solely by Underworld. It's already won a Fringe First Award and everyone at Underworld Live is massively proud to be associated with it.

Beautiful Burnout opens at St. Ann's Warehouse, New York on 25th February 2011.
