Stripes' White scales 'Cold Mountain'

NEW YORK (Cold Mountain movie Website) - The White Stripes� male half, Jack White is taking on the big screen � sort of. The frontman will toss five songs to a Civil War drama flick named Cold Mountain. The soundtrack drops on December 16th and will include tracks "Never Far Away" and "Christmas Time Will Soon Be Over" � both penned by Jacko.

In addition, White also offers up his renditions of "Wayfaring Stranger," "Sitting on Top of the World," and "Great High Mountain" (best known for the Ralph Stanley version). White has recorded two original compositions for the soundtrack; the holiday themed "Christmas Time Will Soon Be Over" and a song called "Never Far Away".

The film was adapted from the Charles Frazier best-selling book of the same name and stars Nicole Kidman, Jude Law and Renee Zellweger. It will see release December 25th. The epic Civil War era drama also features a small acting part by White himself which had been adapted from the best-selling novel by Charles Frazier.
