A classically trained pianist and multi-instrumentalist, Tartalia draws upon diverse influences to create her unique brand of orchestral chamber pop. Recently, Tartalia was named a finalist in the Solarfest Songwriter Showcase, and the CT Folk Festival and Songwriters Beat song contests, and she has made numerous festival appearances this summer and fall throughout the Northeast and Midwest. In 2007, Tartalias first foray into musical theatre as composer and arranger, 1918: A House Divided, book and lyrics by
Barbara Kahn, was produced by the Pulitzer Prize-winning Theater for the New City, and an original cast recording was released in 2008. She is currently working on another collaboration with Kahn, set to debut at Theater for the New City in March 2011. In addition to her original work, Tartalia has also performed as a singer with Petra Haden and the Sellouts, and can be heard playing piano on numerous independent recordings.
Her latest project, the Sweet and Vicious EP, was produced by Grammy Award winner Michael Leonhart (Steely Dan, Lenny Kravitz, Yoko Ono) and will be released early in 2011.
