New York, NY (Top40 Charts/ Revolutionary Records!) - After a year of focusing on building their presence in the digital world and bringing fans and artists information on the Fiercest Femmes in rock n' roll, Girls Rock & Girls Rule (GRGR) returns to the stage for their 9th year on December 9, 2010.
But this isn't the GRGR show you've been accustomed to - in fact, everything but the name is new. Premiering at a new venue, R Bar on Manhattan's Lower East Side, the event will reunite tour veterans and GRGR alums promising a night of phenomenal music the way only they can!
But these ever evolving ladies have some surprises in store as several of them will be showcasing their latest projects. In true GRGR style, the girls will bring fans music that is fresh, unique, and of course absolutely rockin'!
Opening the show will be our favorite saucy Marisa Mini playing lead guitar with her new cover band - Guitar Girls Under Cover. The five-piece all-girl rock band makes its debut and will perform an entire set of cover songs by female artists such as The Bangles, Blondie and Katy Perry. The best part? All five band members are music teachers and students with the Brooklyn Guitar School and New York City Guitar School.
Next, Vampness and the Mad Dog - featuring Loki the Grump lead singer Michele and her new songwriting partner/guitar maniac Joe from NYC band Regular Joe, with LTG monster bassist Phil and rockin' drummer Jess - hits the stage for a set that promises all the rage and passion of Loki, with a slightly gentler touch.
Not to be outdone, The Natch - a new hybrid formed by three out of four members of co-ed pop-rock sensation America's Sweetheart - will play a slew of new, sexy material.
In addition,The Rosies return for the fifth year with their awesome melodic-alt-rock style.
Also returning to the stage, Rew with one of her latest band projects ReW*D. This tight outfit features Andrea Auerbach on drums and G-spot's Donald Dixon on bass guitar, and they always get the crowd going!
But what would a GRGR show be without a G-spot set? Tonight, lead singer and GRGR Founder Gail, who has been focusing on her first solo album lately, will reunite the band for one special night. With this much talent in one place it's sure to be a night that rock fans will not want to miss!
GRGR Fierce Femmes are not just lead singers fronting a band with a bunch of guys backing them up. These ladies are truly talented musicians across the board; slammin' it on the drums, bad-aNo $ on the bass and shredding those guitars, matching and surpassing their male counterparts every day in every way.
The annual NYC event offers audiences an entire evening of amazing music for just $8!! GRGR is offering a special pre-sale discount, $6.00. Tickets can be purchased up till Dec. 8th at girlsrockgirlsrule.com. Admission also includes raffle tickets for some very cool prizes. R Bar will be offering drink specials for the entire night; $5 for a Chang beer and a shot as well as $5 for any of their wines.
Proceeds from the event will help fund GRGR's future ventures and fulfill their mission of becoming the ultimate resource for women who want to rock as hard as the boys - and just need a little push and help in fulfilling their Rock n' Roll dreams!
