NEW YORK (Top40 Charts/ CMJ Network) - CMJ Network, Inc. has announced the dates for its 2011 CMJ
Music Marathon & Film Festival. The festival will take place from Tuesday, October 18 to Saturday, October 22, 2011 in New York City. The annual festival, celebrating its 31st year, will once again be headquartered in downtown Manhattan with daytime events including panel sessions, exhibitors' loft and registrant lounge, seminars and other special events.
At night CMJ Music Marathon takes over more than 75 of New York City's premier clubs and music venues, featuring performances from over 1,300 of the world's best new artists, featuring genres including alternative, rock, dance, hip-hop, metal, country, world, jazz and much more.
CMJ Film Festival enters its 17th year with cutting-edge film releases from both independent and major motion picture studios, as well as CMJ's signature post-screening Q&As with film directors and stars.

Over 1,300 artists rocked CMJ 2010, including sets from headliners like Phoenix, Ghostface Killah, DeVotchKa, Four Tet, Surfer Blood, Yo La Tengo, Nada Surf, Two Door Cinema Club, and The Pains of Being Pure at Heart, plus standout performances from breakout acts including DOM, Dominique Young Unique, Dale Earnhardt Jr. Jr., Oh Land, Braids, Lower Dens, and Diamond Rings.

CMJ Film Festival 2010 featured independent and major movie selections, including an exclusive screening of Love & Other Drugs and a post-screening Q&A with star Jake Gyllenhaal and director Edward Zwick, Bruce Springsteen's "The Promise: Darkness on the Edge of Town," and Imogen Heap's self-titled documentary. 2010 also marked the first ever CMJ International Film Festival, featuring films from territories including Taiwan, France, Germany and Canada.
Highlights from music, technology, media, film and pop culture panels included "Curmudgeons of Rock," "From Crowd Surfing To Crowd Funding," "How To Sell 500 Tickets In 5 Markets," "How to Start a Movement," "The Mindset of the Venue Booker," and "American Hardcore and the Rise of Modern Rock," as well as Sonic Scoop's Studio Time, a two-part seminar focusing on the creation, mixing and mastering of recordings. 2010 also featured the inaugural CMJ Play event, a one-day seminar focusing on the intersection of music and video games.
