TORONTO, CANADA (Top40 Charts/ Profile Communications) - Gil Moore, drummer in the band Triumph, and owner of the renowned Metalworks Studios in Mississauga, Ontario, has joined Balanced Copyright for Canada (BCFC) in support of efforts to advocate for strong copyright laws that reflect the reality of today's digital environment.
"The scale of piracy is simply off the charts and it's had a dramatic impact on every aspect of the music industry," explains Gil Moore. "We can, and have, diversified our product lines but the speed and volume at which creative products are being taken without permission, is simply too high to be ignored. The government has a responsibility to ensure laws reflective of the digital environment are in place in order to protect intellectual property."
Moore is perhaps best known as the drummer of multi-platinum stadium rockers, Triumph, which over 15 years, produced 11 albums, each of which achieved gold or platinum status in Canada, and together sold in excess of 15 million copies. Equally successful, Moore is the owner of the Metalworks Studios, Metalworks Institute & Metalworks Production Group complex in Mississauga, Ontario which has been voted "Studio of the Year" an unprecedented 12 times at the Canadian Music Week Music Industry Awards. Metalworks has hosted a veritable who's who of international stars including: Prince, N'Sync, Jonas Brothers, Christina Aguilera, Tina Turner, DMX, Sisqo, Busta Rhymes, Guns & Roses, David Bowie and The Cranberries as well as Canadian stars Anne Murray, Nelly Furtado, Our Lady Peace, Tom Cochrane, Drake among others.
