Winchester, VA (Top40 Charts/ Wampus Multimedia) - U.S. independent label Wampus Multimedia introduces 'Play for Affection,' the new CD from Winchester, Virginia-based Arms of Kismet.
Fronted by songwriter Mark Doyon and percussionist Evan Pollack, Arms of Kismet creates postmodern pop in the vein of Beck, Wilco, and The Flaming Lips.
From the confectionary "Emmett Kelly in Love" to the bittersweet "Beautiful in Plaid," 'Play for Affection' charts the rugged topography between life today and someday. By turns both sun-kissed ("My Mercurial Nature") and shadowy ("The Miserablist"), it rumbles over hills and valleys, mapping joy, sadness, and the open terrain in-between. Whether characters plan their itineraries ("Leaving") or fall asleep at the wheel ("Another Song Called Home"), they roll onward, driven by dreams, desire, and the cryptic hand of fate.
Produced by Doyon and mastered by Jon Astley (Tori Amos, George Harrison, Pete Townshend), 'Play for Affection' features performances from sitarist Gaurav Mazumdar (Ravi Shankar, Philip Glass).
The record joins a Wampus Multimedia roster that includes recent releases from tvfordogs, the matthew show, The Crowd Scene, The May Bees, Venus Flytrap, and Kowtow Popof, as well as 'If I Were a Richman: a Tribute to the Music of Jonathan Richman' (on which Arms of Kismet performs "Pablo Picasso").
Wampus Multimedia is an independent media label run by artists, for artists. Its credo is simple: to introduce the world to bold content rendered by visionary artists. It is home to a growing roster from a variety of genres, including pop, AAA, Americana, alternative, ambient, blues, and folk.
'Play for Affection' is available at iTunes, Amazon, CD Baby, and many other outlets.
