Woodstock, NY (Top40 Charts/ Shore Fire Media) Ascendant Brooklyn music project The Poison Tree, led by former King of France front man Steve Salett, will grace the stage at Pete's Candy Store on February 11. My Old Kentucky Blog recently pondered the band's self-titled debut, out March 15 on embarque, and came to a telling conclusion: "A last-ditch plea to an estranged lover? An out of body experience? You tell me. I get the feeling I'll be playing this record a lot come 2011." The Poison Tree is more than the sum of its parts. Salett's silken nylon-stringed guitar melodies, flanked by soulful keyboards and wailing horns, provide a supple cushion for his vocals to rest upon. Some of New York's most talented, including Thomas Bartlett (aka Doveman), Dawn Landes, and Jeff Hill (Rufus Wainwright), contributed to the plaintive collection of songs that are at once raw and wonderfully complete.
