NEW YORK (Top 40 Charts) - Boy George, former Culture Club frontman-turned-club DJ, said after his recent stateside DJing stint that New York is not the party town it makes itself out to be. On George's official website, in an article called "The American Report," he writes: "Here I am in Boston, tonight is my final DJ date of a month, give or take a day or two, long slog, across the Americas. What can I say about clubbing in the U.S.? Firstly, it ain't as rocking as the U.K. To be fair, certain cities have got the plot. Los Angeles, Denver, Minneapolis, Boston, Detroit, Dallas, Washington, but New York was big old baggy pants! It's odd, the places you expect to be cool and exciting, often let you down and places you think will be naff are on the pulse...I think Mayor Julie-oh-no has ripped the life out of New York." George goes on to write about how Americans in general can't see past his '80s-singer image: "At home, clubbers know me more through their mums and don't have such a fixation with my past. Thank the Lord! Being here has been like going back to 'Go' on a Monopoly board. I guess it will take some time to get America into the idea of me spinning rather than singing."
