NEW YORK (Top40 Charts/ Atlantic Records) Rostrum/Atlantic recording artist
Wiz Khalifa has announced that he will light up Pittsburgh's
Heinz Field with an electrifying performance of his hit single, "Black and Yellow," to open this Sunday's NFL AFC Championship game, which sees his hometown team, the Pittsburgh Steelers, facing off against the New York Jets. "I've always had that Pittsburgh pride. I just wanted to let people know where I'm from and represent any way I can and what better way than through our colors. I took that hometown pride and put it in a song," Khalifa says on dedicating "Black and Yellow" to his hometown.
Wiz's exciting performance of his hit single, dubbed a "Hot Football Fight Song" by Billboard, comes as the single approaches the 2 million sales mark. On performing for over 65,000 Steelers fans, Wiz modestly said, "It's gonna be crazy man. It's gonna be really monumental to see everyone out there. Knowing where I grew up and everyone rockin' in the same place. This is the closest to being a Steeler that I'm gonna get."
"Black and Yellow," which was released in September, has peaked at No 1 on iTunes' "Hip-Hop/R&B" chart, with digital sales growing by the day. The single has also hit number 1 on Billboard's "Heatseekers Chart" and is holding strong in the top 10 of Billboard's Hot 100 at number 5. To top all this, Wiz recently released the G-mix to "Black and Yellow" featuring Snoop Dogg, Juicy J and T-Pain. To date, the video for "Black and Yellow" has reached an astonishing 24 million views on YouTube.
Riding on the momentum of all these accomplishments, Wiz is hard at work on his Rostrum/Atlantic Records debut, which is slated for a Spring release.
