San Francisco, CA (Top40 Charts/ Rdio) Rdio, the unlimited, on-demand social music service from the founders of Skype, today announced they have partnered with The Recording Academy on the release of the MusicMapper microsite and application (https://musicislifeismusic.com/), currently available for download on iPhone and Android phones. Launched in anticipation of the 53rd Annual GRAMMY Awards, the app - part of this year's GRAMMY ad campaign, Music Is Life Is Music - allows music lovers to follow their favorite artists' musical journeys and start sharing their own. Within the application, Rdio powers the music search functionality as well as supplies album art and 30-second excerpts of songs tagged by users of the application. "It's extremely validating to have a prestigious organization like The Recording Academy ask Rdio to partner with them on powering the content in their social music discovery application," said Drew Larner, CEO of Rdio. "We have always believed that music is about sharing experiences and we're glad that industry leaders recognize Rdio as a leader in social music discovery." "The Recording Academy is proud to provide music fans with content from Rdio's vast catalogue through our MusicMapper application and Music Is Life Is Music microsite," said Evan Greene, CMO, The Recording Academy. "Rdio proved to be a great partner in this year's GRAMMY campaign given their like-minded emphasis on the social and mobile music experience, and we're grateful for their partnership and collaboration." In addition to following the musical journeys of famous artists, the MusicMapper application also allows fans to easily create a personal audio autobiography by tagging songs and stories to physical locations. Users can then share their songs and locations through Facebook and Twitter or view the tags and stories of others from within the MusicMapper application or online at MusicIsLifeIsMusic.com. The application also provides a direct link to each song within Rdio where Rdio subscribers can listen to the complete song, add it to their collection or playlists, or sync it to their mobile phone for offline playback.
