Asks To Release Blue Valentine Soundtrack
Los Angeles, CA (Top40 Charts/ Cinemedia Promotions) Lakeshore Records will release the Blue Valentine - Original Motion Picture Soundtrack available digitally on January 25th and in stores on February 22, 2011. Director Derek Cianfrance turned to Brooklyn's own Grizzly Bear for the music for the film. The band was happy to oblige, opening their vaults to the director for the music.

"Derek contacted us about three years ago. We were really excited," said Grizzly Bear's Ed Droste. "We were between albums, and we were ready. They hadn't shot yet, and we couldn't compose without seeing anything, so we were in a holding period."

Once the film came to light, with the band on the road heavily promoting 2009's break-out album Veckatimest, the score shifted from original score to underscore coming from the band's entire catalog. The director, selected numerous tracks including "Foreground," "Easier," "Granny Diner" "Lullaby," "I Live With You," "Alligator (Choir Version)" and "Shift (Alternate Version)". In addition to these tracks, songs by Department of Eagles and Penny & the Quarters appear on the soundtrack. Even the film's star Ryan Gosling gets into the action, performing "You Always Hurt The Ones You Love."

Blue Valentine is the story of love found and love lost told in moments past and present. This honest and moving portrait follows Ryan Gosling and Michelle Williams who star as Dean and Cindy, a married couple who spend a night away from their daughter in an attempt to save their failing marriage. Juxtaposed with playful scenes that trace their romance courtship six years prior, Gosling and Williams journey through the brutal heartbreak that comes with fading love and broken promises.

The Weinstein Company presents Blue Valentine currently in theaters in limited release. Blue Valentine - Original Motion Picture Soundtrack on Lakeshore Records will be released digitally on January 25th and in stores on February 22, 2011.
